Week 43 - Antique Tiles

Hi there - here we are again with our next block in the Sew A Long. Did you think we had fallen off the planet? I’m sorry for the for the long delay with getting our next block up on the blog. We have been a merchant at three quilt exhibitions that were quite close together and they kind of over took my life for a wee bit. It is so good to go to these shows and see the stunning quilts that are being made. I love getting to know the other merchants there as well.

Here we are with number 43 and back on track to get the remaining block to make the 52 for our sew along. Please excuse the terrible ironing on my 6” block eeekk!

This block is the Antique Tile and is very similar to a block we have already made back in Week 11 - Stacked Nine Patch.

Isn’t it amazing that with a small change you can make a completely different block.

In the first photo I have made the blocks as per the Stacked Nine Patch method - and then decided to “snowball” the corners - photo on the right - to dress it up a little. In the 12” (blue) option I have repeated the centre fabric for the corners and for the 6” (red) option I used an additional fabric for the corners. Same blocks but two different looks with those fabric choices.

The pattern below is for the second version of the block.

Have a fantastic week and I hope you enjoy making this block. I’ll see you back here next Wednesday.

Take care, Christine
